This piece originated with a unique slab of salvaged Ontario Black walnut with an incredible flowing grain pattern but one caused by a large split in the plank.
Inspired to contrast the blonde highlights of the walnut I filled in the split and gave one side of the plank's live edge a straight edge using a charcoal tinted resin on the bottom. To create depth and add a subtle sparkle to the resin fill in certain light I then embedded sea salt within clear resin on top of the black base to create depth within the resin. Completed with simple long black powdercoated steel hairpin legs to give the table a “floating” feel.
